Welcome to Paradise” is the eighth episode of the eighteenth season of Murdoch Mysteries and the two hundred ninety-sixth episode of the series (not including the three stand-alone holiday specials). It first aired on January 6, 2025.

Summary

Murdoch’s countryside cycling journey takes a dark turn after decomposing bodies are found in a field with gunshot wounds, Murdoch fears that a sequential killer may be on the loose and who might be targeting men from other cultures. As the bodies are excavated and photographed, Inspector Choi confirms that the victims were specifically targeted.

  • This episode takes place in Toronto 1912 – George V is King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until his death in 1936.
  • Electrocuting an Elephant (also known as Electrocution of an Elephant) is a 1903 American silent short film depicting the killing of the elephant Topsy by electrocution at a Coney Island amusement park, filmed by Edison film company. Topsy was sentenced to death by Luna Park officials based on the belief that she had become a "bad" elephant.
  • Themistocles Gluck (1853-1942) is a German physician and surgeon who first invented endoprostheses from ivory in 1890 in Berlin, when he performed the first documented total wrist Arthroplasty and he received the 1st State Prize of the Berlin University for his work on nerve suturing and nerve regeneration.

  • This episode was filmed in part in Thorold as the episode's story is set in Grimsby (25 min, 37.9 km from Thorold), a town on Lake Ontario in the Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. MM producer Jeremy Hood told ThoroldToday that downtown Thorold was an ideal location because of its heritage buildings.
  • Dr. Rebecca James and Nate Desmond moved to Chatham, Ontario, in Season 11.
