• When Newcombe's partner, John Delaney, was murdered, Lacey was one of the suspects investigated by Detective William Murdoch. Murdoch discovered that Delaney had been intimate with Lacey's wife. This translated to a motive for murder. However, it was eventually uncovered that Delaney was murdered by his son.
• Lacey was also involved in drugging some of the dogs to "fix" the fights.
