Violet is a dog first belonging to Allen Fawkes, then to Edna Garrison, and eventually George Crabtree, introduced in Season 1 of Murdoch Mysteries.

  • Violet was a dog belonging to Allen Fawkes. Fawkes intended to kill Violet in a demonstration of alternating current. However, the demonstration was being protested by Edna Garrison of the Toronto Humane Society and George Crabtree convinced Fawkes to give Violet up to Miss Garrison for the sake of good publicity.
  • Violet got her name from Edna Garrison who named her for the violets given her by George Crabtree. Later, Violet destroyed a pair of slippers owned by Edna's landlady at Miss Beasley's Boarding House. Edna brought Violet to live with Crabtree.

  • In the closing video clip, George Crabtree reveals that Violet passed away and reminiscences on how she used to greet him with exactly five wags of her tail.
