Hi! This is more of a personal message here. I'm just worried... if I'm doing something wrong? I seem to be making a lot of mistakes and I don't want to make editing difficult for anyone. If you could just point out things I can do/stop doing, it'd really help me. Thanks.
Not to worry, we all had to go through a 'rough and tumble' learning curve, because editing happens on two levels here – the usual grammar stuff and the under-the-hood markup syntax language which has gotten a bit more complicated by the Fandom site upgrades. Hang in there please!! Ask us if in doubt on anything, we may have the answer ;)
We are trying to keep to a format on the pages created during the recent MM seasons - so those pages are good general guides. Unusually the new pages for the current episodes are initiated by Admin/Content manager as we have experienced spoiler-lovers (and trolls) mucking about...we want the wiki to be informative for MM fans BUT not give it ALL away All at once for those who have not seen the recent episodes yet. It is a balancing act how much to reveal when.
This summer there will be loads to do to get the earlier Season pages up to form too! Thanks for keeping in communication - it's the key to successful editing! ;D
Oh, I see! So I guess creating Evelyn Matthews' page wasn't really in my best interest xD I'll watch for that now.
If the site has gotten upgrades on format and all that, I'm gonna be that one person who's there mucking it all up. I barely got used to the previous format, and now there's all this new stuff I gotta be careful of.
Maybe I'll try to keep my editing limited to older pages. Thanks for your help!
Good suggestion, something all editors can do throughout this coming summer; One editor has already begun updating the format for the Cast listings in Season 6 (hopefully working backward to Season 2). This doesn't mean that Season 12 should be ignored - as of this moment, episodes 1 - 9 have aired globally thus I have unlocked most of the related articles to registered editors and will continue this process as Season 12 episodes are released world-wide.
Good, thank you. Methinks the way to edit now is to do the reveal (spoilery) of storylines through the Character pages; This way the visitor finds out more by exploring via hyperlinks from the Episode pages, which are some of the routinely visited pages on the wiki.
FYI - Still on-the-road, will start work again on Season 12 articles April 18 onward, as I work underneath-the-hood on the site again. All the clean-up work will help the migration to the upgrade! Thanks!
Got it! I'll be out on the islands next week, but will try to keep up the daily routine checks. Will have more time this summer to work on Season 11. Appreicate your checking in on our progress when possible, thanks!
It has come to my attention that other wikis limit the daily edits of contributors - as some editors are 'hooked' on adding points for badges rather than adding substantial information to the encyclopedia; let me know your thoughts on this when you get a chance. ;^)
Well, first off, I think we have all been guilty of that behaviour during the early stage of editing. It is one of the reasons you didn't add badges to FDM wiki, remember? It's part of the process and learning curb on this wiki. Most of those editors come and go. BUT I do take your recent notes about proofing the entire article during minor editing.
Did read that question/request earlier this week and I tend to agree with you about keeping sort by 'T' in the appropriate episode titles that begin with 'The'. Will review it again, thanks for the reminder.
Also, did you know that some wikis restrict daily edits per editor to less than six?
Well, clearly ask Editors to limit their edits during a short timeframe while we are working underneath-the-hood but clearly we can't have a daily edit limit policy here as this wiki has a badge award for 100 edits in a single day!
