The Boys Are Back in Town” is the first episode of the nineteenth season of Murdoch Mysteries and the three hundred tenth episode not including the three stand-alone holiday specials of the series. It aired on October 6, 2025.

Summary

Murdoch investigates an explosion inside the City Morgue as a private citizen while he and his fellow officers fight to reopen the Station House No.4 against Mayor Vaughan's orders.

Historical References

  • This episode takes place in Toronto 1913 – George V is King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until his death in 1936.
  • John Edward Davison (1887 – 1971) was an English footballer and manager who had a long and successful association with the football clubs of Sheffield, playing for The Wednesday for 18 years and later managing Sheffield United for 20 years. Known for his fairness and diplomacy earned him "The George Washington of Sheffield football" and "Honest Ted" nicknames.
  • The story of Samson: He is the biblical Hercules, a man of super-human strength yet displayed great moral weakness. His strength was due to his separation to the Lord; specifically, the fact that his hair had never been cut (see Numbers 6:5). Learning this a Philistine named Delilah, whom he loved, had his head shaved.

  • This episode is dedicated In Memoriam to Yuri "George" Yabubiw, director and cinematographer since Season 7 (2013-2023).
  • George Crabtree is conspicuously absent from this episode.
  • Noelle Victoria was created with Luann de Lesseps in mind and the name is actually a reference to her two children, Victoria and Noel.
