"Sometimes They Come Back Part 1'" is the first episode of the sixteenth season of Murdoch Mysteries and the two hundred fortieth episode of the series (not including the three stand-alone holiday specials). It first aired on September 12, 2022.

Summary

Detective Murdoch investigates the bizarre murder of two gravediggers.

After a dire prophecy by his Aunt Oleander, Crabtree leaves Effie at the altar, hoping it will save her life. Murdoch and Higgins investigate the murder of two gravediggers in a pauper's field that appears to have been perpetrated by a corpse.
