Beginning with Season 6, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation or CBC partners with Shaftesbury Films to produce Murdoch Mysteries.

Citytv, the original network who aired the first five seasons of Murdoch Mysteries (2008 - 2012), had cancelled the series at the end of Season 5.

Starting with Season 6, the season premiere episodes airs on CBC (Canada) first before its international release.

Location filming for Season 6 took place in Hamilton and at Trinity College School’s Osler Hall and the Guild Room for interior and exterior shooting which took place on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012.
