Summary
When a Murdoch lookalike is murdered, danger is near. Murdoch must find the murder before the murder finds him.
After starting the morning at Scott’s Diner, Effie and George continue discussing their upcoming wedding when George spots the Detective riding pass them on his bicycle, moments later a gun shot is heard. George is relieved that the murdered bicyclist is not William Murdoch.
At the City Morgue, Hart informs the team that the bullet travelled in a downward trajectory, penetrating the man's chest, killing him instantly. A 65 millimetres - that means a rifle. While the victim had no scars, birthmarks - she did take the liberty of contacting his tailor. The gentleman came in with a list of exactly what he wanted and paid in cash. Other than that, the tailor knew nothing about him.
Visiting the crime scene, Murdoch and Watts deduce with the downward trajectory of the bullet - the shot came from the second floor of a nearby building where they find a casing and gouges on the window sill. Meanwhile, the Inspector returns to the City Morgue to ask after the man who was visiting the coroner earlier that morning. He looked familiar and Brackenreid thinks he might be a criminal.
A man dressed up to look like Detective Murdoch rides a bicycle on a route the Detective takes often and is fatally shot - all to send him a message?
Meanwhile, Crabtree and bride-to-be Effie visit her hometown for him to meet his new in-laws. But he's more intrigued by the community's mystical reputation and the possibility of aliens, and his interest turns investigative after Effie's maid of honor goes missing.
