- Owen Paxton was a keen philatelist, stamp collector, who is found dead in his study when Constable Crabtree and Special Constable Parker's arrival disrupts a house party with men only – all running out the back – before George discovered there was a body.
- The wound on Paxton's head matches the base of the statue left by his body. His body still warm, lividity hasn't set in yet, putting the time of death less than two hours ago – between 8:40 and 9:40, according to Miss Hart.
