Old Dan was a vagrant who frequented the area around Shuter Street Church, portrayed by Doug McGrath.

On the day that Wendell Merrick was to marry Eunice McGinty there, Old Dan was seen outside begging.

Later, when Thomas Merrick murdered Wendell, he tossed his valuables including a pocket watch and cufflinks outside the church where Old Dan found them. When Old Dan tried to pawn the items he was arrested for the murder of Wendell Merrick. Detective William Murdoch eventually proved Old Dan's innocence and correctly arrested Thomas Merrick.
