"Murdoch Escape Room" is the seventh episode of fourteenth season of the Murdoch Mysteries and the two hundred eleventh episode of the series (not including the three stand-alone holiday specials). It first aired February 15, 2021.
Summary
Murdoch, Ogden, Crabtree and Brackenreid must escape an abandoned factory rigged with rooms designed to kill.
A series of riddles lure Murdoch and Ogden to an abandoned factory, where they find themselves trapped in a puzzle room. A short time later, Brackenreid and Crabtree are led to the site as well. The pairs are sequestered in individual rooms as a voice over an intercom proffers convoluted riddles. The associates find their safety and very lives threatened as they strive to solve them.

Trivia

- According to MM showrunner Peter Mitchell, this episode was shot in the second block of episodes along with "super rabies”. MM set decorators had to build three distinct sets: Pendrick's set, Clegg's set and the escape room as the producers, line producers and crews had to organize all this while adhering to covid protocols, "...everyone was a trooper and we were happy to get out of the enclosed spaces and go camping (ep.1405) after these two were shot."
Notable Quote
- Crabtree to Julia, Murdoch and Brackenreid: "Yes, exactly! In formaldehyde, perfectly preserved. What if somebody in the future takes that brain and transplants it into another living being? That person would then... ipso facto...be James Gillies. And wouldn't it be just like him to invent a time machine and come back to this moment to torment us further?"
