  • Hello -- I've been working on the entry for Crabtree à la Carte, and learning the HTML markdown syntax. My work will likely be slow for a while, as there's a learning curve for fandom.com and for this wiki as well, and I wanted to clarify a couple of things. First, is it all right to remove spoiler warnings for the Season 11 pages? Second, are there any episode descriptions that you consider particularly exemplary? I ask because I notice a variety of styles in the summaries, and I would like to understand the preferred style for the sake of consistency. Finally, is it standard to reveal the solution to the mystery? As a frequent user of the wiki, I find it useful when this information is included.

    Thank you!

    • Good. Also, thanks for getting the side scoop on the rest of Season 13 episodes!

    • Back to summary style: It is a bit limiting to ask different editors to write in the exact same style - rather, we ask that the summaries use the Murdoch language style, avoiding any contemporary language that is not in keeping with Murdoch's world.  Solutions to the murder cases are placed on the appropriate criminal's Character page for Seasons 11-13 please. Thanks to all ;^)

  • Hi, I’m going to be adding and fleshing out summaries on the episode pages for season 11 and onward, and I’d like to make a suggestion. I think it would be useful to have two separate sections to describe each episode: the first a brief, spoiler-free summary so that people who haven’t seen the episode can still find the page useful, and then an expandable section with a full synopsis of the plot. Once the code exists for these two sections, I’m happy to work through each episode page so that it matches the new structure. Would you be open to this?

    • Thank you for communication. Please keep the format as is and as stated in "get started". Please stick to Season 11 and episodes before that season at this time. Let's see how your style and work flow goes on the wiki first. Good to play by the rules before making changes. ;^)

    • While we appreciate your input and offer, we do want to honor all the editors and their work that has been contributed from the beginning of this wiki. Please keep this in mind as you "flesh out" Episode summaries and pages in general. Thank you.

    • Thanks for your responses, and for the pointer to the “Get started” page. I certainly don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, and I will absolutely be mindful of others’ work, which I very much appreciate and respect. There is clearly a great deal to be done on the wiki, which I frequently use as a resource in my fic writing, and I would like to contribute as much as I can.

So you know, I’m a professional writer, editor, researcher, and content developer who has produced all kinds of documents while working within many, many teams over nearly 30 years. I’m excited to learn about the mechanics and style of the site so that I can help make it even richer and more useful. I’ll be posting my summary of “Crabtree à la Carte” as soon as I can, probably within the next day or two, and I will look forward to your feedback.

    • To All MM wiki editors and wanna-be contributors reading this thread! This site has been a quiet and modest wiki generated and edited by the occasional visitor to long-standing MM wiki editors, all fans of Murdoch Mysteries. Two of the best editors have been a student from Europe (learning English) and a retired Vet from the U.S., while the less than stellar contributors have been fan fiction writers and a TVfilm pro – go figure. We welcome young and old, no matter your experience,  your primary language or where you live; what matters to this wiki is following the guidelines, practicing a consistent workflow and being in communication. Thanks to all and Happy Holidays!

  • Hi again! I'm making a new thread instead of adding onto the old one since this is a different topic.

The MM Discord noticed that the way character pages are categorized seems to be very random. Some are organized by first name, some by last name, and some just seem to be in the wrong place in general. To make things a little easier in that category, could we possibly find a way to categorize the character pages in a way that makes sense. I would suggest going by last name but it's ultmately up to you.

  • Hiya! I got this idea from the Brooklyn 99 wiki, but I was wondering if we could possibly add quote sections to certain character pages? I think it would be a good oppurtinity for editors to be able to contribute in a more creative way rather than just reciting what's happened in the show. Ofc it wouldn't be overrun with quotes, but maybe just a couple of really good ones that have made an impact on the show (i.e Crabtree's potato cooking room).

    Just a suggestion! ^v^

    • Awesome, thanks! My "team" and I are tossing possible quotes around for each episode. We hope they're decent :D

  • Hi there! So I noticed there's no page for George and Effie's ("Geffie", as Clare McConnell has called it on twitter) relationship, but there's pages for all of George's past relationships. Should one be added or are we no longer doing relationship pages?

      Loading editor
    • Have added the Geffie page; You are welcome to edit it. Thanks for ALL your recent suggestions and contributions!

  • As of tonight's episode, Watts has been officially confirmed as queer!

Permission to be the one to edit his page? (It's okay if not; I'm just really excited to see my favourite character discovering that he is something that I too identify with! :D)

      Loading editor
    • Understand! Have unlocked his page for you, requesting that the languaging be consistent with Murdoch times, please. :^)

    • Of course! Thank you so much! I'll get right to it

    • One more thing, and I'm being a bit grammar picky here, but the quote "do you mind if I call you Jack" actually would not have a comma. If anything, it would have quotation marks around it. Watts was asking Walker if he could call him by his first name. With a comma, it gives the sentence a different meaning.

Sorry if this is annoying, it's just something I picked up on xD

  • ...at the Canadian Screen Awards. I just found out through a Mar 15 email from the Shaftesbury Murdoch Mysteries newsletter. But apparently voting started with voting period 1 back on Feb 7! And we're now in voting period 3 of 4, with this round ending Mar 20. In this round, there are 5 eligible, of which Helene is one and she is currently in 4th place. Round 4 runs Mar 21-31 and only 3 contenders will be eligible. The winner will be announced during the awards live broadcast Mar 31.

Shaftesbury and Helene need everyone's help getting out the vote. Everyone, not just Canadians, is eligible to vote (I'm an American and I just voted). And everyone can vote 100 times per day.

I figured this would be a prominent community for getting the word out. Can you post it somewhere everyone will see it quickly?

Here is the link to the official voting page:

    https://www.academy.ca/votenow/

Helene also has the link posted on her Twitter page. All voters have to create a free account and login first. The full rules and FAQs can be found through the voting page.

Thanks for any help you can provide getting the word out.

    • Thank you for your informative request. There is no en mass community messaging mechanism that would "quickly" reach all those who have visited this wiki and/or are registered editors of this encyclopedia. We have added the information, which adheres to this site’s guidelines, on the Hélène Joy article page (gets nearly 100 visits a week).

While being a quiet encyclopedia site, we do include Murdoch Mysteries’ events but we do not engage in direct promotional campaigns, as it does not compile with this site guidelines and, in some cases, with Fandom guidelines.

Hope you enjoy your visits here and we look forward to your future contributions!

  • Hi! This is more of a personal message here. I'm just worried... if I'm doing something wrong? I seem to be making a lot of mistakes and I don't want to make editing difficult for anyone. If you could just point out things I can do/stop doing, it'd really help me. Thanks.

  • Heyo,

I noticed that there's no info for George in the season 12 section of his profile. I was wondering if you could open it up temporarily for me to add the information, if possible, as I've edited his page before ^^ If not, I'm cool with that

    • Welcome back! It's done, go for it. Have held back on Season 12 for the Main Characters this time around as things are ever-evolving.  Nearing the end of season, good time to begin adding to their Character Arc. Thanks!

    • Thank you! And I'll ask if there's ever any pages I want to edit in the future that may need to be unlocked ^^ My plan is to hopefully be more active on the wikia, but school will ultimately determine that xD
