  • Hello again. I noticed that on Watts' page his infobox has become quite long. I was thinking perhaps using those dropdown codes that are seen in main character pages could be useful? I'm afraid I don't have much experience with the coding side of things, though - I'm a writer. Just thought it could make for a more organized page.

    • We updated Watts infobox as you requested; While the lists are not collapsible on mobile devices, it does appear more organized and matches the style/format better. Thanks again for the suggestion.

  • Hello RamWik,

I would like to share my thoughts regarding the martial status of Murdoch prior to his marriage to Dr. Odgen.

As it is currently stated in the Error section of the Season 8 Holy Matrimony page,  that Murdoch was in fact a widower and not single.

I believe that Murdoch of the TV series differs in certain aspects/details from the Maureen Jennings books.  In the books, Murdoch marries Amy (who was already with child) when Murdoch proposed to her.

In the TV series, Season 1 Ep 2 Glass Ceiling, Murdoch tells Chief Constable Stockton that he was a bachelor,  that his fiancee Liza Miller had died of consumption.  If Murdoch had been married, he would have said "Widower" and not bachelor.    We the audience know that was no woman after Liza as Murchoch tells George he knew Ogden was the one for hi. From the first moment he met her (Season 7 Fridat the 13th).

So I believe that Inspector Brackenreid was correct in his assumption  that Murdoch had no experience as Murdoch had never been married, and that his strong Roman Catholic faith would have prevented him from having premarital relations with women.

Therefore, I believe that ERROR statement needs certain clarifications.  Thank you for your time and attention.

  • Hello! I'm just wondering if I could be allowed to edit Watts' page regarding the new episode? (I would like to edit George's too but if not that's fine)

Also, on the topic of page protecting, I would like to request that all current protected pages be reviewed. A lot of them are protected unnecesarily, which may discourage people from editing. I have taken a look at the wiki help and policies, and would like to point out that it explicitly states; "[a] majority of pages on all wikis should remain publicly editable and are not to be protected."

Keeping pages such as the main four characters and recent episodes protected is a good idea. I would like to suggest that old episodes and recurring character pages should be unprotected to allow for a more wider range of editing.

I would appreciate it if this were taken under consideration :^)

  • Hello -- I've been working on the entry for Crabtree à la Carte, and learning the HTML markdown syntax. My work will likely be slow for a while, as there's a learning curve for fandom.com and for this wiki as well, and I wanted to clarify a couple of things. First, is it all right to remove spoiler warnings for the Season 11 pages? Second, are there any episode descriptions that you consider particularly exemplary? I ask because I notice a variety of styles in the summaries, and I would like to understand the preferred style for the sake of consistency. Finally, is it standard to reveal the solution to the mystery? As a frequent user of the wiki, I find it useful when this information is included.

    Thank you!

    • Good. Also, thanks for getting the side scoop on the rest of Season 13 episodes!

    • Back to summary style: It is a bit limiting to ask different editors to write in the exact same style - rather, we ask that the summaries use the Murdoch language style, avoiding any contemporary language that is not in keeping with Murdoch's world.  Solutions to the murder cases are placed on the appropriate criminal's Character page for Seasons 11-13 please. Thanks to all ;^)

  • Hi, I’m going to be adding and fleshing out summaries on the episode pages for season 11 and onward, and I’d like to make a suggestion. I think it would be useful to have two separate sections to describe each episode: the first a brief, spoiler-free summary so that people who haven’t seen the episode can still find the page useful, and then an expandable section with a full synopsis of the plot. Once the code exists for these two sections, I’m happy to work through each episode page so that it matches the new structure. Would you be open to this?

    • Thank you for communication. Please keep the format as is and as stated in "get started". Please stick to Season 11 and episodes before that season at this time. Let's see how your style and work flow goes on the wiki first. Good to play by the rules before making changes. ;^)

    • While we appreciate your input and offer, we do want to honor all the editors and their work that has been contributed from the beginning of this wiki. Please keep this in mind as you "flesh out" Episode summaries and pages in general. Thank you.

    • Thanks for your responses, and for the pointer to the “Get started” page. I certainly don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, and I will absolutely be mindful of others’ work, which I very much appreciate and respect. There is clearly a great deal to be done on the wiki, which I frequently use as a resource in my fic writing, and I would like to contribute as much as I can.

So you know, I’m a professional writer, editor, researcher, and content developer who has produced all kinds of documents while working within many, many teams over nearly 30 years. I’m excited to learn about the mechanics and style of the site so that I can help make it even richer and more useful. I’ll be posting my summary of “Crabtree à la Carte” as soon as I can, probably within the next day or two, and I will look forward to your feedback.

Two of the best editors have been a student from Europe (learning English) and a retired Vet from the U.S., while the less than stellar contributors have been fan fiction writers and a TVfilm pro – go figure. • Hi again! I'm making a new thread instead of adding onto the old one since this is a different topic.

The MM Discord noticed that the way character pages are categorized seems to be very random. Some are organized by first name, some by last name, and some just seem to be in the wrong place in general. To make things a little easier in that category, could we possibly find a way to categorize the character pages in a way that makes sense. I would suggest going by last name but it's ultmately up to you.

  • Hiya! I got this idea from the Brooklyn 99 wiki, but I was wondering if we could possibly add quote sections to certain character pages? I think it would be a good oppurtinity for editors to be able to contribute in a more creative way rather than just reciting what's happened in the show. Ofc it wouldn't be overrun with quotes, but maybe just a couple of really good ones that have made an impact on the show (i.e Crabtree's potato cooking room).

    Just a suggestion! ^v^

  • Hi there! So I noticed there's no page for George and Effie's ("Geffie", as Clare McConnell has called it on twitter) relationship, but there's pages for all of George's past relationships. Should one be added or are we no longer doing relationship pages?

    • Have added the Geffie page; You are welcome to edit it. Thanks for ALL your recent suggestions and contributions!

  • As of tonight's episode, Watts has been officially confirmed as queer!

Permission to be the one to edit his page? (It's okay if not; I'm just really excited to see my favourite character discovering that he is something that I too identify with! :D)

    • Understand! Have unlocked his page for you, requesting that the languaging be consistent with Murdoch times, please. :^)

    • One more thing, and I'm being a bit grammar picky here, but the quote "do you mind if I call you Jack" actually would not have a comma. If anything, it would have quotation marks around it. Watts was asking Walker if he could call him by his first name. With a comma, it gives the sentence a different meaning.

Sorry if this is annoying, it's just something I picked up on xD
