Appearances and Mentions[]

Rough and Tumble[]

  • Inspector Arthur Dreadnaught waits in Inspector Brackenreid’s office  in Station House No. 4. It’s been a while since they last talked. There's no easy way to tell Tom that his son Robert Brackenreid is under suspicion for murder.  Which may be a ridiculous notion, but Arthur has witnesses. Brackenreid insists, “My son is not a murderer. Look, let me talk to him. I'll sort this out.” But Inspector Dreadnaught can't do that – to Brackenreid’s surprise – because he don't know where his prime suspect is. Robert Brackenreid is on the run from the law.
  • Later Dreadnaught meets Brackenreid at the pub to discuss the case over drinks. A boys from the Wickford Academy went the Sword and Sheath. He had broken up fights between the boarders and the local lad before. On that night the bartender Stubbs tossed out Brackenreid's son, when local boy Gerard Lacroix left Robert was waiting for him and hit him repeatedly; Gerard never came to and Robert fled the scene. Inspector Dreadnaught does not give out witness names and warns Thomas Brackenreid that this is not on his turf.
