George Crabtree is a constable of the Toronto Constabulary assigned to Station House Four. In addition to his routine duties, he serves as an assistant to Detective William Murdoch. At the beginning of the series, George tends to come off as a silly and almost foolish character, but it is quickly revealed that he is in fact quite eager and willing to learn about Murdoch's methods for solving crimes. For this reason, he is quite loyal to Murdoch. He also has a romantic interest, Emily Grace, beginning in Season 5. His beliefs in the paranormal often clash with Murdoch and Brackenreid, although Emily often supports his theories. One of George's running gags is his flower named Aunts.
In "Blood and Circuses" (season three, episode seven) he mentions he was a foundling.
