Ernest Rutherford is a New Zealand-born British physicist introduced in Season 13 of Murdoch Mysteries, portrayed by Andrew Hodwitz.

History Edit

Ernest Rutherford (30 August 1871 – 19 October 1937), 1st Baron Rutherford of Nelson, was a New Zealand-born British physicist who came to be known as the father of nuclear physics. According to the Encyclopædia Britannica Ernest Rutherford is the greatest experimentalist since Michael Faraday.

Awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1908,

Prize motivation: "for his investigations into the disintegration of the elements, and the chemistry of radioactive substances."
