- Tough, fair, and stubborn, Elizabeth's business thrived even with the death of her husband. Unfortunately, a plot targeted against her almost saw her hanged for murder, but Murdoch was able to discover the true killer.
- Elizabeth was interested in William, and coyly suggested if he stayed, they could get together. Though he considered it, Murdoch ultimately decided to return to Toronto and Julia, a decision she understood.
