"Darkness Before the Dawn Part 2" is the seventeenth episode of the twelfth season of the Murdoch Mysteries and the one hundred eighty-sixth of the series. The season finale first aired on March 4, 2019.
Summary
Murdoch suspects John is being framed for murder by Inspector McWorthy and Brackenreid goes after the corrupt copper. Justice turns to revenge as evidence mounts against the Constable Brackenreid.
While Murdoch and McWorthy arrested John Brackenreid based on the initial evidence, John does not remember shooting Mr. Sutton and stated to Murdoch that he heard footsteps when he entered the room, but Sutton wasn't wearing shoes and was found seated holding a gun with no trace of gunpowder residue on it. The man who shot John is still at large and Murdoch intends to find him.
The killer goes to great lengths to cover their tracks, which involves the new Chief Coroner Miss Hart...
