Clay Murphy is a resident of St. John's, Newfoundland introduced in Season 7 of Murdoch Mysteries, portrayed by Darren Hynes.

  • Clay Murphy is the original discoverer of a piece of the linen treasure map Jacob Doyle had obtained.
  • A single man, Murphy pursues his own interests. He seems to enjoy gambling, since he was playing with Jacob Doyle, and subsequently lost the linen piece of map to him. However, Clay didn't recognize it for its true value, and was mostly indifferent to the events that he had inadvertently set into motion.
  • His family has owned the house for a long time, and he had discovered the linen piece in the cellar. When questioned who owned it before his grandfather, Clay admits it was the Farrelly family.
