"Buffalo Shuffle" is the third episode of the fourth season of the Murdoch Mysteries and the forty-second episode of the series. It first aired on March 1, 2011 (UK).
Summary
Murdoch reunites with his old flame, Dr. Julia Ogden, in Buffalo, New York, to investigate the death of a young patient. In short order, Murdoch's feelings for Julia heat up, as do suspicions surrounding one of Ogden's colleagues.
Despite a brazen and puzzling break-in at Station 4, a seemingly indifferent Murdoch asks Inspector Brackenreid for a few days off. Puzzled by the request, Brackenreid grants his beleaguered detective's request. It turns out that Murdoch wants to travel to Buffalo, New York, to help Dr. Ogden investigate the death of one of her young cancer patients - a death she suspects may have been a murder committed by one of her hospital colleagues. Ogden's suspicions are bolstered when a hospital nurse is found dead. As Murdoch and Ogden work together to determine if and how the two deaths are linked, Murdoch can't help but feel the flames of romance being rekindled.
Meanwhile, back in Toronto, Brackenreid, along with Constables Crabtree and Higgins, investigates the seemingly pointless break-in and discovers that there is a lot more going on than meets the eye.
