• Allen Fawkes conducts a demonstration of the "danger" of alternating current in which a dog is supposed to be killed. The young woman who throws the power switch is killed instead and Doctor Julia Ogden determines that the woman was pregnant at the time of her death.
• Later, Murdoch remembers seeing what appeared to be an intimate moment between Fawkes and the young victim. When challenged with that information and with testimony about having had a discussion with Edwin Dodd, Fawkes demands to meets with a barrister.
