Alex Paxton-Beesley was born and raised in Toronto. She is a graduate of George Brown Theatre School and the Actors’ Conservatory at the Canadian Film Centre.
On stage, she has worked with the critically acclaimed Company Theatre (Festen, Canadian Premiere), Canadian Stage/Citadel Theatre (Rock ‘n’ Roll, Canadian Premiere) and Theatre Aquarius (The Woman in White, Worldwide Premiere). On television, her credits include appearances in Republic of Doyle, Being Erica, Suits, Rookie Blue, Lost Girl, Beauty and The Beast, guest-starring in The Listener, recurring roles in Warehouse 13, Alphas, and The Firm, as a supporting lead in the Hallmark Hall Of Fame MOW Christmas With Holly and a lead in Lifetime’s Breakdown at 17,and as a series regular on BBC America’s first original series Copper,produced by Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson and Will Rokos.
On film she can be seen in THE CONFESSOR, THE COLONY, in the BravoFact short film YOUR PLACE OR MINE, as the lead in Phillip Barker’s short film MALODY (TIFF ShortCuts 2012 selection/Canada’s Top Ten), in the upcoming feature DIRTY SINGLES and in the short BURNT GRASS, selected for TIFF ShortCuts 2014. Most recently, Alex appeared in a recurring role in FX’s hit new series The Strain, created by Guillermo Del Toro.
Season 1 of Pure will air during the winter on CBC (2017). Paxton-Beesley plays Anna Funk, Mennonite wife to Pastor Noah Funk (Ryan Robbins) who sees her quiet life threatened after a mob leader named Eli Voss (Peter Outerbridge) gives Noah an ultimatum, forcing the Funks into the crime world.
