Murdoch and the Cursed Caves[]
- Murdoch asks Alberta Bennett to send his telegram to the Provincial Detective's office in Gravenhurst as he reports the death of two young university students. Upon being told of their search for the gateway to the Underworld, The Ekarenniondi, Alberta Bennett replies, "My grandfather told me all about it." The Ekarenniondi is the pathway to the village of souls and the Headpiercer creature is called the Oscotarach; It guards the Ekarenniondi. "Yes, two young lads came in here a couple of days ago. I tried to warn them. Just like you."
- Then, Murdoch repeats what Fletcher Goss had said about the Owen brothers who had gone missing ten years ago, abandoning their cabin, and asks if she or the regulars at the store know any thing about that. Nelson knew them and their boasting about finding gold in the caves. When they had first gone missing, their father came around asking questions but wasn't helped by the townspeople. The folks believe it was the creature for they have all seen it, including Alberta Bennett, "I know, you and your wife think we're touched. But the Headpiercer has lived around here for centuries."
- Later, Alberta Bennett closes her the General Store so she can deliver the Headpiercer its meal.
